Who is on the board of Bridgeway?
Bridgeway is governed by a board of four selected Bridgeway members who meet semi-annually in June and December. The board is comprised of: Reg Petersen, Carol Petersen, Amy Campbell, and Ernest Kennedy. The board sets strategy, determines policy, reviews and monitors financial statements, and selects leadership to achieve its corporate goals.
Who can be members of Bridgeway?
As a private foundation, membership in Bridgeway Foundation is restricted to a selected group. Bridgeway members are individuals aged 21 and over, and include the founders (Reg and Carol Petersen), direct descendants (by blood or adoption), and spouses of direct descendants. There is currently one non-descendant who is a member by special invitation in order to serve on the board. Members meet on an annual basis (at the Annual General Meeting) to elect the board, select the Grantmaking Committee, and to be updated on the progress of the foundation. At present, there are 13 members of Bridgeway Foundation.
Who are the staff of Bridgeway?
Mark Petersen is the Executive Director of Bridgeway Foundation. He is accountable to the Board of Directors, and has led the foundation since November 2000.
Other staff include: Brent Fearon (Senior Program Officer), Carol Petersen (Director of Philanthropy), and Linda Dzelme (Administrator).
What is the role of the Grantmaking Committee?
The Grantmaking Committee reports to Bridgeway’s Board of Directors, and exists to select grants which fulfill the mission of the foundation. The Executive Director and his staff present a variety of projects to the Grantmaking Committee every quarter from which they select some for Bridgeway partnership. The Grantmaking Committee will be meeting to review grant applications in May and December of 2009.
