Partner ~ Step 1c: Think concept

If you believe your organization and project will qualify, and that it fits within Bridgeway's grantmaking framework, then you are ready to submit a 2-page concept paper along with a cover letter.

Include the following headings in a 2-page concept paper:

  • Statement of Need
  • Description of Project
  • Proposed Measurable Outcomes
  • Outline of Project Budget
  • Amount Requested
  • Term of Project (in months)
  • Amount of Annual Budget
  • Contact Person & Contact Information
  • Website Address
  • Charitable BN/Registration Number

Email your concept paper and cover letter to the attention of Mark Petersen, Executive Director, at info [at] bridgewayfoundation [dot] ca.  Feel free to call our office to confirm that your paper has been received and is being reviewed.  Allow for up to four weeks for us to respond to your concept paper, though our intent is to respond more quickly.

If you wish to discuss your submitted concept paper with our Executive Director, you may request an appointment (in person or by phone).    Bridgeway has scheduled several Open Houses throughout 2010 for this purpose.  We will schedule these meetings only if we believe there is alignment between your proposed project and our grantmaking priorities.

Only organizations that have submitted a written concept paper are eligible to meet during our Open House.

You will be notified by email if your concept paper has been approved.  If so, you'll be ready to move to step 2.

If declined, you will receive our response by mail.  Any organizations with declined concept papers should feel the liberty to call our office to arrange for a phone appointment with Mark Petersen, Executive Director, regarding the rationale for the decision.   Usually, it is one of the reasons listed in this FAQ.
