Investing into professional development impacts charity February 2, 2010
Dave Blundell, Executive Director for Chilliwack, BC-based charity Hungry for Life was the recipient of a professional development grant sponsored by Bridgeway in 2007. The grant was matched 1:1 by his organization, and funded his education in the Master of Arts in Leadership (MAL) degree at Trinity Western University. This type of grant is one way of strengthening a charity's ability to become even more effective in the future. But a patient, long-range view is required as benefits are not observed overnight.

The Choosing Our Future Project is curriculum prepared for high school students on values, world view, and making choices for the common good based on interviews with celebrated Canadian Jean Vanier. The package, which includes a DVD, is in the process of being introduced to an estimated 379,800 students in over 1150 high schools across Canada by 2010.

Other options than prostitution found for African women November 2, 2009
Mestu, Ayale, and Azeb were three vulnerable women exploited in prostitution on the streets of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. Each had experienced the devastating loss of a parent, a life of severe poverty, and various forms of abuse. As a last resort, they turned to prostitution to supplement income for their families. One day, however, they found a better solution through an Ethiopian grassroots organization sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
